European Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighborhood Policy Oliver Varhelyi said that the European Commission will continue to stand by the countries of the Western Balkans in fight against the coronavirus pandemic.

He wrote on his Twitter account that he had discussed with foreign ministers the next steps in support of vaccination campaigns, including providing vaccines for health workers and vulnerable groups.

On Monday, March 22, a meeting of the European Union's Foreign Affairs Council was organized in Brussels to discuss current events.

Earlier, Varhelyi spoke with German Foreign Minister Heik Maas when they exchanged views on the Western Balkans and stressed the need for progress in the EU enlargement process, including launching accession talks with Albania and North Macedonia as soon as possible.

Even then, support for the region of the Western Balkans in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic was repeated.
