A two-day international symposium on covid and post-covid was held at the General Hospital "Prim. Dr. Abdulah Nakaš" in Sarajevo.
After the roundtable discussion, where experts from the Mayo Clinic from the United States Emir Festić and Adnan Begović addressed, the exchange of knowledge and experiences of health professionals about covid, especially those who provided intensive care to seriously ill patients, was emphasized as valuable.
Professor Festić concluded that the number of nurses in intensive care units should be increased. He cited an example from experience in America that one or two nurses cared for one patient whose life was in danger.
One of the participants in the symposium, prof. Andrej Štribar from the Dubrava Clinical Hospital in Zagreb, hopes that the fourth wave of the pandemic will not be as strong as the previous one due to vaccination and other gained experiences, but he believes, like other participants, that everybody should be ready.
Prof. Begović notes that vaccination is very important, even for those who have been infected with the disease. He also said that there is no strong scientific evidence when it is desirable to be vaccinated after an illness.
