A group of citizens gathered in front of the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina today at around 9:30 AM to send support to the Director of the Intelligence and Security Agency, Osman Mehmedagić. He was arrested in Sarajevo yesterday on suspicion of committing crimes of abuse of office or authority, forgery of documents and money laundering.

Investigators are also checking allegations that Mehmedagić forged a diploma which he used to apply for the position of director of ISA, and how he bought two residential buildings in Sarajevo is also suspicious.

According to our journalists from the scene, those gathered are standing in the parking lot in front of the Prosecutor's Office and the Court of B&H. Among the hundreds gathered are Fikret Prevljak, former leader of the SDA Ilidža and a candidate for mayor of that municipality, and Salko Zildžić, president of the City Board of the SDA Tuzla. Zildžić said that the arrest of Mehmedagić was a "show for the public" and that many scandals had been covered up, and that a "deliberate blow to Mehmedagić" had been noticed in the last few years.

- This has nothing to do with the SDA, this is our personal response to ridiculous event - said Zildžić.

Mirza Hajrić, former ambassador of B&H, said that he was there privately, as a friend of Osman Mehmedagić. He said that he did not dispute that the Prosecution was checking the diploma of the director of ISA, but that that was not a reason for arrest.

- I would assess that this is a provocation and that they have been trying to convict Mehmedagić for a long time, and at the same time crimes worth milions are not being prosecuted - said Hajrić.

The gathering is secured by a large number of Sarajevo police officers.

It should be reminded that this morning, Mehmedagić was handed over to the acting prosecutor in the Prosecutor's Office of B&H for further proceedings after he spent the night in the detention room of the SC MUP. The prosecutor should request custody for Mehmedagić or release him within the legal deadline.
