After the Russian Embassy in BiH sent serious threats to "Dnevni avaz" today, in response to a comment entitled "Putin's Games", which we published yesterday, the editorial board strongly says that no threats will stop or scare us.
- In the years behind us, "Dnevni avaz", its founder and journalists have met countless times with pressure, persecution and threats because of their pro-Bosnian policy and undisguised support for what Bosnia and Herzegovina and the peoples in it are.
Aware that as a media outlet that is, without any dilemma, committed to the idea of a united Bosnia and Herzegovina, an eyesore for some, we are ready for criticism without foundation. We know how to deal with that, but we will certainly not keep quiet about it.
Threats of "blows from the depths of the Russian soul" complete the collection of threats we have received in recent years.
However, this time it is the embassy of a world power and we take it very seriously. With all due respect to Russia, to the representatives of this country in BiH, we will not accept the way in which we as a media outlet should be disciplined.
We are by no means trying to test the limits of patience of the Russian Embassy in BiH, because that is not our task, but we can say with great certainty that "Dnevni avaz" will continue on the path it has taken so far.
"Dnevni avaz" will, regardless of this type of pressure, continue to report objectively, express views, research ... Our leader will always be Bosnia and Herzegovina and its citizens, those who have kept us at the top of the media in Bosnia and Herzegovina for years.
Finally, due to brutal threats, the most influential BiH media outlet will address the security authorities of BiH in order to provide the necessary protection to the editors and journalists of "Dnevni avaz" - said the editorial board.
We remind you that the Embassy of Russia in Sarajevo, in its reaction to the comment of the author Miralem Aščić, said the following:
As for your "comment of the day", which was published on February 16th, 2022. by the most read and influential newspaper in Bosnia and Herzegovina - Dnevni Avaz, we would like to point out the following.
Of course, Russia has a soul. For that very reason, we doubt whether any of our partners have a soul with their broken record about "soulless support of Russia for secessionist messages". It is with the soul that we are committed to establishing a constructive dialogue in Bosnia and Herzegovina. We support its sovereignty, territorial integrity, equality of its constituent peoples and entities in accordance with the General Framework Agreement for Peace in Bosnia and Herzegovina. But the ultimate responsibility for how BiH will develop lies with the people of this country. And that requires not only the mind, but also the soul.
We wholeheartedly advocate respect for the norms of international law, whether it is respect for the procedure for appointing a new High Representative in BiH or the implementation of the Minsk Agreement.
Soul, spirituality are values that have always been characteristic of Russia.
But, after all, everything has its limits, even our patience. And if we are forced to respond with a blow to the provocations of cynics, hypocrites and manipulators, it will be a blow from the depths of the Russian soul, the reaction reads.
