The significance of today's summit in Prague, as well as the concept of the European political community, is that the widest circle of countries on the European continent got a chance to participate. It is a form of coming together for the purpose of a unique response to challenges, in the context of a general crisis of international relations, said Chairman of the BiH Presidency Šefik Džaferović after the Summit of the European Political Community in Prague.
- It is obvious that some traditional multilateral frameworks, such as the Security Council, cannot respond to all challenges due to blockades. The fact that the community is gathered today, from the United Kingdom to the EU and the Western Balkans to Turkey, actually sends the strongest message.
It is very important that Bosnia and Herzegovina participated and that BiH's positions on Ukraine, which are aligned with the EU's common foreign and security policy, have been affirmed. I also emphasized the importance of continuing the European and Euro-Atlantic perspectives for Bosnia and Herzegovina.
At bilateral meetings, I highlighted my concern about potential ethnic divisions and tensions that could be caused by the imposition of the Election Law in BiH - said Džaferović.
As he said, Bosnia and Herzegovina needs peace and stability, and that is why it is extremely important to ensure the continuation of the presence of the international military mission in BiH, as well as for BiH to receive candidate status for EU membership.
- I am convinced that we have all realized that bringing BiH closer to the EU is a powerful way to strengthen peace, and it can be expected that Bosnia and Herzegovina will soon receive candidate status - said the Chairman of the BiH Presidency, Šefik Džaferović.
