Ahmed Nasser Al Raisi of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has been elected the Interpol president on Thursday, the international police organization said on Twitter.
A voting was held to elect Interpol’s new chairman and executive committee members on the third day of the 89th Interpol General Assembly meeting in Istanbul.
According to elections results, Al Raisi will serve as the Interpol chairman for the next four-year term, the organization said.
Interpol’s executive committee oversees implementation of General Assembly decisions.
The 13-member executive committee, including president, vice presidents and delegates, represents Interpol’s four regions.
